Solar Distance is a label focus towards melodic House and Techno that is run by leading Spanish artist UNER. Along with releases from the label boss himself, the label has featured music from the likes of Copy Paste Soul, Lee Van Dowski and Philip Bader.
In preparation for this year’s ADE event in Amsterdam the label have put together a special mixed artist EP featuring a selection of artists new to Solar Distance.
01. SIS & Alex Kennon – Intelligent Solutions
Opening the release is a collaboration between German veteran SIS and Italian born Alex Kennon. To most SIS needs no introduction as a scene leading artist, who boasts on impressive back catalogue including Get Physical, Crosstown Rebels, Connaisseur Recordings and Defected to mention only a small few.
Alex is also no stranger to the world’s music scene, with prestigious residencies at both Pacha and Ushuaïa in Ibiza. Along with a string of other releases, Alex has also featured music on labels like Nic Fanciulli’s infamous Saved Records.
The SIS and Alex Kennon track titled “Intelligent Solutions” opens the release with gliding pads that lead into a hard hitting groove filled with menacing intent. Very much a game of two halves, it’s the perfect track for those looking to bridge the gap between peak time and warm up.
02. Elojet – Flashback
Track two is from Elojet who is an exciting new talent making his first ever release with this appearance. Although a new producer breaking onto the world’s music scene, Eloy Roig aka Elojet is already popular with a Spanish audience. A resident at Edu Imbernon’s club night along with playing at many of Spain’s leading events, he regularly plays alongside the likes of Tiga, Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones and Âme.
Blending twisted acid with an old school style vocal, the track lives up to its “Flashback” title, blending modern production with timeless sounds. Hard hitting with a thick set jacking groove, the track is underground with just a touch of mainstream appeal.
03. Prymate & Raul Rodriguez – Papalon
Third on the release is a collaborative track from Prymate and Raul Rodriguez, who as a duo make their first official release on this EP.
Both up and coming producers, Prymate’s music can also be found on One Million Dollars Ibiza, Bondage Music plus UpBeat Records, and Raul has previously released on Deeplomatic Recordings.
Little is known about the pair, but their music peaks louder than words and after a single listen they will have you hooked and begging for more.
Their track titled “Papalon” is focused on bubbling acid and tribal rhythms, brought to life with building reverb and muffled vocals that combine to create a chic sound full of intensity. Distinctively individual the track crosses the genre divide appealing to fans of both House and Techno.
04. Jairo Catelo – Melancolic Orchestra
Finishing off proceedings is a track from Jairo Catelo who many will recognise from his releases on scene leading labels including Soma, Plastic City, Darkroom Dubs and SINCOPAT. Not only an established producer, Jairo is an accomplished DJ who along with Berlin residencies, has played many or Europe’s top events.
Jairo’s track titled “Melancholic Orchestra” provides the perfect ending to this stunning release. Melodic chords intertwine with uplifting pads and shuffling percussion to create an epic sense of euphoria. Although airy, the track’s heavy bottom end prevents it from floating away and ensures that it keeps a club focus with a drop that is set to cause dancefloor destruction.
