There are certainly many synonyms for Ante Perry. Mainly, of course, DJ and label owner, promoter and producer but also spook, daredevil and buddy-type. And even if unique specimen are found these days you can bet Ante Perry is one of them.
Perhaps his home is at fault, the Romanian-born grew up in Dortmund, the largest city in the Ruhr, which can not only offer due to the Mayday with a fascinating electronic music scene and thus enabled him to get started in this direction. Perhaps it is also the fact that he also gallantly moves on international stages and the most prestigious clubs in the country, Europe and the rest of the world as if he had never done anything else. And yet Ante Perry never lost the grip on reality.
Ante Perry was inspired by the legendary mixtape “60 Minutes of Funk” by Funkmaster Flex, which not just opened him up to a whole new world but also tempted him in 1991 to record his first mixtape.
The first gig came in 2001 and paved the way into the world of renowned house DJs. And Ante Perry wants to take no special status in this. He feels comfy with all times whether warm-up, peak time or after-hours and constantly delivers sound happenings which are ranked between dancing mania and insanity. Stuffed dancefloors and an upside-down crowd are all allong on Ante Perry ́s side.
For many years he convinced with own productions, the 2006 debut “Beach Power” and the follow-single “Der Urknall” undoubtedly take a special place in his discography that in addition to various singles on labels such as Moonboutique, Systematic Recordings, Great Stuff and Kittball has achieved remixes for acts such as Tube & Berger, Phonique, Fünf Sterne Deluxe, Jennifer Rostock, Dapayk or Spirit Catcher and two album releases (Flashing Disco sounds I & II).
Since 2012 Perry operates his own studio and has refilled highly explosive material on labels like Katermukke, Kittball or Kallas. But he is also to be found regurlarly in other studios, producing with internationally established artists like Tube & Berger, Moonbootica, Dirty Doering, Nod Ones Head, Maxim Lany or Flo Mrzdk.
The 1980-born evergreen took total freedom and creative control over his work in 2013, when his dream from the own label was realized and “be an ape” was born. As A&R manager at the labels “Punx” and “Polo”, he gained experiences that pay dividends now and made sure that “be an ape” already has reached catalog number #10.
In his self-created playground the workaholic determines the tone and speed, similar to its quarterly events “Ante Perry & Friends” that takes place Dortmunds “Weinkeller” and has advanced to an absolute must-attend. Certainly one of the main reasons was Perry ́s decision, not to be satisfied with average equipment. Good music by good sound has been already a secret recipe in the old school hip-hop periods, from which the he originally comes from.
Ante Perry sees himself as Raver, he comes early to the events or in the club, to listen to the acts before him and is also usually the last to leave what speaks for Perry ́s attitude that is moving far away from commerce oriented club behavior of today’s house scene, Briefly worded Ante Perry is a DJ and producer of the old school, who masters the entire spectrum of music from deep to peak, and keeps true to his roots and is totally open towards his future.
