New to Lucidflow comes Berlin based artist Sebastian Albrecht, co-owner of Park Recordings, alongside friend and fellow artist Florist.

His sound traces all the way back to the halycon days of Berlin’s techno scene, checking out mix CD’s from the iconic Tresor nightclub and label. As such, his sound stems from the free thinking productions of those days, able to take in elements of house and techno but able to define itself as neither. A nearest comparison can be drawn to Marc Leclair, he of Horror Inc. and Akufen fame, with chunky beats teamed with off kilter microsamples and sourer walking basslines. Known for its luscious dub infused releases, it proves to be quite a departure for Lucidflow.

On the ‘Soppy’ EP, this is most evident with the track ‘Dim’. An imperceptible vocal gargle bubbles alongside a bassline that purses the lips. Perforating this is a natty 707 snare, sahara dry.

Title track ‘Soppy’ errs into Perlon territory with its almost mocking off kilter percussion. Paranoid whispers and broken jazz lick your eardrums through the thoroughly groove driven track.
Finally ‘Devon’ provides its own interpretation on the Lucidflow template. Where the dub stab would ring out, it is replaced with a mutant stab – harmonium, organ, church bell, all mixed together through a horror film filter. Underneath a low bassline writhes away as indistinct conversations and pitch shifting percussion has you looking over your shoulder.

‘Soppy’ hits the streets on 3rd October 2016.
