Sincopat is a label set up in 2010 by Spanish producer AFFKT and his friend Alberto Sola. Known for its melodic sound, the label has an open minded approach to House music.
Recent releases have featured music from people including Gabriel Ananda, dubspeeka, Vince Watson, My Favorite Robot plus Tiger Stripes, and this new release is another star studded affair.
Alongside a remix from label boss AFFKT, the release also features two original tracks from the Egyptian born Raxon.
Ahmed Raxon who is now based in Barcelona (Spain) became known to most when he remixed Nick Curly’s track ‘Underground’ for a Beatport remix competition that he won. Since then he has gone onto collaborate with artists like Kiki and release on labels including Noir Music, Culprit, Moodmusic and Suara.
Having now played many of the world’s best clubs and recorded guest mixes for radio shows like John Digweed’s Transitions on Kiss FM, a headstart from the remix competition shows talent rises to the top and Raxon is showing no sign of stopping before he reaches the mountains summit.
To many a Sincopat fan AFFKT needs no introduction, but having also released on labels including Kling Klong, Bedrock, Mobilee and Suara he is not just a label boss. Years of hard work and an impressive back catalogue have led to an international DJ career and a reputation as being a figurehead of the melodic House and Techno genre.
The first track titled “Formulate” is led by an arpeggiating lead synth that merges with mystic pads and mechanical percussion. With a pulsating sense of purpose, the looped groove have as undeniable Techno influence. Rippling with a shimmer of elegance, this track takes no prisoners and is tailor made for peak time plays.
Second on the release is “Elevate” that starts with a menacing synth line and rolling groove filled with crashs of percussion and intense clap rhythms. With the introduction of rising pads, the track softens as it develops and a sense of euphoria takes hold. Short lived, it’s not long before the track strips back to its darker and more sinister self.
Finishing the release is AFFKT’s remix of “Elevate”, which has much of the originals energy and dancefloor focus. Replacing the pad with a delicate melody part, the remix takes focus on the menacing lead synth that is prominent throughout the tracks groove. Despite having uplifting elements, the euphoria in this version makes way for a new twist and alternative style.
