Four years later, his long-awaited sophomore LP, ‘Son of a 1000 Sounds’.

In this new album he finds himself drawing from techno, house, atmospheric textures, straightforward beats, immersive pop and electronica thirsty for adventure to create something distinct. A key challenge, no matter what. The length and diversity of AFFKT’s musical résumé is staggering. His penchant for shape-shifting through genres makes him a perfect pick for not just clubbers, but also indie, pop and electronic music enthusiasts. From sounds that remind his teens, parent’s vinyl’s collection to chromatic nowadays techno… Non-purists are very welcome to this 12-tracks journey.

A glowing LP that demonstrates the unwavering talents and evolution of a producer / DJ with 9 years’ experience in the game.

On ‘Son of a 1000 Sounds’, Marc Martinez Nadal –his real name- has managed to create a highly listenable piece of art out of a collection of ostensibly illogical songs. The early stage is for a couple of left-field music pieces: ‘Ikigai’ and ‘Dreamback’. A quick way to keep clear the ability to thrive as a set of songs outside of just a dance- oriented environment. A few cuts later (and with permission of the techy and clubby moments we’ll speak a lines below) AFFKT will be demonstrating his passion for a gentle association of techno/dub music with future bass-lines, subtly beats and outer space chained melodies: ‘Between Us’. The perfect introduction to another of the most magical moments in this new album: ‘Boira’. A warm and optimist puzzle composed alongside Upercent. Delicate Balearic bubbles and naïve washes into an astonishingly beautiful concoction.

Not less catchy ‘Mareny’, worship for great and beautiful synthesizers and classic and contemporary electronic sounds all in less than four minutes. Or ‘Ceniza’, this time more organic and bizarrely nostalgic. And then ‘Esclafit’ where AFFKT alongside Piek flirted gracefully with deconstructed house music. If you’re looking for some deep, wild and engaging loop-based dance sounds, this song will definitely satisfy.

Now that we have one foot on the dance-floor, perfect time to go over the most banging tracks. There are ‘San Diego’ and ‘Oxi’, two rocking’ and vivid compositions inspired by prominent synth melodies and arpeggios, propulsive techno-house beats. Cuts that shifts seamlessly from moody moments to explosions of electronic ecstasy. And oh my goodness, don’t forget ‘Flashcrash’, what easily could be a major tribute to the unique UK duo The Chemical Brothers. Those who gave us great moments such as ‘Chemical Beats’, ‘Out of Control’ or ‘Hey Boy, Hey Girl’.

‘Flashcrash’ blends in the vocal featuring of Sutja Gutierrez (member of the band The Fruhstucks). A skilled singer appearing also on ‘The Show’ (first single taken
from the album) and ‘Someone in the Sky’ (coincidentally or not, the second single to be released). With his inclusion, Pop sensations have definitely taken a back seat in favour of uncompromising dance floor utility. Sometimes funky and fresh, sometimes emotional and breath-taking.
