Mr.C’s Superfreq label partner David Scuba has teamed up with Finley for Superfreq’s next extremely exciting outing. As well as many great releases on Superfreq, David Scuba has released on Deserts Hearts, Family Grooves, Design Forms, NOSI Music, Veryverywrongindeed, Riff Raff, Compatible & AA Trax. Finley has been equally prolific with releases on Get Physical, Nervous, Superfreq, Touch of Class, Motek, Faceless & Sullivan Room; & it seems together they really have hit the sweet spot.

The LeNinj EP kicks of with Scoofin, which as the title suggests is Scoobs & Finley being irresistibly goofy in the studio (who’d have thought), but the results have brought the opposite of goofiness with this twisted brooding workout. Solid beats & throbbing bass are overlaid with quirky horn stabs, tight percussive hits, tripped out melody sequences & a haunting pad supplying extreme peak time dance floor time action that will blow the roof off.

Next up we see the ever-present Kate Simko on remix duties as she takes Scoofin into a whole different direction. This one certainly has more bounce to the ounce as the funky tech house rhythms carry her completely infectious bassline, which drives the track throughout. Cheeky synth hits & tripped out synth noises add a mischievous attitude to the proceedings while her deep chord stabs & devilish pads add a more haunting effect to this absolute dance floor winner.

Rounding off the EP nicely comes the title track LeNinj & the boys really do get Ninja with this one. The track starts with rolling beats & a thick bassline then subtly builds with spaced out noises & effects until before you know it you’re once again transported into peak time action with arpeggiated synths, a phat bassline, obscure vocals & funky as hell drum fills without ever quite knowing how you got there. True ninja skills indeed.

This collaboration by David Scuba & Finley once again sums up exactly why Superfreq remains ahead of the pack when it comes to releasing forward thinking & innovative yet fun & mischievous dance floor gems.
