Exciting new production outfit Customer makes their EP debut on mobilee, as the collaborative project of childhood friends Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot takes flight.

Both heavyhitters in their own right, Fitzpatrick is one of the scene’s leading techno artists; a behemoth on Drumcode, along with being the latest artist to be tapped to mix fabric’s esteemed compilation series, while Reset Robot (AKA Dave Robertson) remains one of the scene’s most outstanding production assets, co-producing and engineering many of Drumcode’s biggest tracks, together with being a regular on Truesoul.

Together, they wanted to try something different, however. The latest artists to join Anja Schneider’s mobilee – a label renowned for giving its artists creative breadth – Customer showcases the duo in a different light to the big room, main stage personas the pair has built up over decade long careers.

Their manifesto is to explore the deeper, more atmospheric corners of house and techno and across two exquisite cuts on their mobilee debut, the pair’s intentions are realised. ‘Thirteen’ is lilting and beautiful, almost shoegazy if you discount its driving dancefloor appeal. No wonder it was a favourite of Schneider’s from the moment she first heard a freshly mastered demo last August. ‘Magic Number’ is seven minutes of delicious melodic funk; lush yet unassuming and the kind of track you could imagine soundtracking one of those superb morning set moments where the dancefloor is weepy for all the right reasons.

The release of ‘Thirteen’ marks an auspicious month for Customer, who’ll make their mobilee gig debut at the crew’s Fact Music Pool series event on June 16 during Off Week in Barcelona.
