The dutch producer San Proper brings his freakish touch in a remix of no less than two tracks originally created by US artist Rick Wade.

San’s banging dance floor style is full of little bits and pieces that pop up throughout the track, immerging the listener in a disturbing atmosphere – until the climax, a recognisable house touch from Wade’s production, opening the remix on a whole new spectrum – banger!

About Rick Wade:
Michigan born Rick Wade has done as much to contribute to the house canon. For nights on two decades ‘big daddy Rick’ has consistently turned out deeply channelled grooves that need every second of their often elongated lengths to have best effect. Peppered only lightly with strings, the odd breathy voice or some other delicate hook culled from the funk and soul sounds around which he grew up, Wade’s style is the perfect embodiment of minimum effort, maximum impact.

About San Proper:
San is a charismatic performer who places himself at the centre of his art – passionate, unpredictable and well versed in the sort of house and afro, techno and disco, acid and electro sounds that send ‘floors crazy. He releases his characterful music on Rush Hour and Perlon, collaborates with friends like the Mole and Melon and runs his own Proper’s Cult label.

The idea
We believe that « everything is a remix ». Remixes are a major part of the electronic music history. The club culture take off on remixes, some of the greatest dance hits where made from remixing original tracks.

Our purpose
Our primary purpose is to highlight this exercise by offering the opportunity to artists to either work on a remix of their choice or offer a track to be remixed by an artist they admire. It is overseen and curated by independent music lovers and supported by Absolut Vodka, a brand that is permanently involved in the field of contemporary arts and creation with a tradition of supporting artists such as Keith Haring and Andy Warhol. The Absolut Remix project is dedicated to the art of combining or editing existing materials, to produce something new.

Monthly releases
As a start, every last Friday of the month, we will unveil a new remix, from a newcomer or a legend, from disco to techno or IDM and house music.

How does it work?
The original producer (label and/or artist) owns the rights of the track and is able to release it on any medium he wants (digital and physical), the Absolut Remix project only promotes the tracks and the artists, and asks for the tag name and a soundcloud upload.
