Tresor 25 Years_altroverso_

Tresor, the Berlin techno institution, celebrates its 25th anniversary.

This year of celebrations includes a dedicated event for the club’s jubilee, the Tresor 25 Years festival, a series of international showcases, the record label’s anniversary and a monumental compilation completing Tresor Records’ release schedule.

When Tresor opened on March 13th 1991 in a shack on Potsdamer Platz, beneath which the vault of the Wertheim department store lay, no one would have thought that from there would arise an institution that one day would celebrate 25 years of existence. The venue had only been licensed as an art gallery and received a lease of just three months. Needless to say, in the early days, every single day they expected the authorities to close the venue down.

Instead, the club became the formative stylistic starting point of a worldwide music and youth movement. The Tresor cellar, with its dance floor pressed between bank safes, the unique sound and the dense fog, became a symbol of the successful reunification of the youth of two formerly separated German states, who danced and celebrated here together from the club’s inception.

DJs and artists from Detroit were the main inspiration for the sound of the vault – the now famous Berlin-Detroit connection resulted in a very special friendship between the two cities. As a club and record label, Tresor had already become a worldwide magnet and advertisement for the city of Berlin.

Over the past 25 years Tresor has created many historic moments in the musical and party history of the city. From Jeff Mills’ first sets on three turntables, to the grandiose Tresor Park parties, to various chapters of the Loveparade with Sven Väth in the 90s and since then countless generation-spanning parties, that represented for their visitors the highlights of their personal clubbing experiences. The history of the club was always eventful and not without complications.

From the temporary closure by the authorities in the early years, to several raids, all the way to the closure and demolition of the old location in 2005, the years of wandering in exile and the resurrection in the new location Kraftwerk Berlin.

In 2016, we will celebrate this great anniversary throughout the entire year. We are glad to reveal some important parts of the program in this letter.

Other surprises will follow.
Now is the time to say thanks.
Thanks to all artists and DJs, thank you to the team, to all who were there and still are, to all who have fought against the mainstream.
Everything grows old, except Tresor.
Feiert schön. Enjoy the flight.

Events celebrating Tresor’s great jubilee will take place throughout the year, within the walls of the legendary vault in Berlin.

Friday March 12th marks the launch of celebrations, bringing together an essential selection of staple artists that shaped Tresor’s musical singularity. Berlin denizens DJ Pete, Pacou, Sleearchive and Vainqueur come together with new signings Claudia Anderson, Zadig, Psyk, J.C. as well as British legend Steve Bicknell.

The year-long jubilee program culminates with a bang for the Tresor 25 Years Festival on July 21-22-23. Tresor expands beyond the vault and into the cavernous Kraftwerk hall for three nights of music bringing together some of the most prominent names who contributed to the elevation of the Berlin institution. Details to be disclosed individually.

As an exclusive preview into its 2016 schedule, Tresor Records will release new projects from Borderland (Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald), Terrence Dixon, Objekt, Mike Parker, Mike Huckaby, Dasha Rush, Marcelus, Mønic, Claudia Anderson amongst many others.

The label extols its own storied 25 year existence with a weighty compilation to be uncovered in October.
