Ben Hoo sweeps in gently with delicate subtlety; and that subtlety has a name; ‘Blueshift’. The long-time Kindisch artist has returned with a 3 track EP from the Pine Islands.

Precariously balancing the energy on a bed of organic and dreamy textures, Ben Hoo blurs the dividing lines and begins to transcend genres. From ambient to tech-house the title track keeps unfolding; bringing with it a lush atmosphere and a rich soundscape.

Next, a steady thump sets the pace in a thick fog as a lone piano sings in the distance; this is ‘In Memory’. The low key intro, the woven layers, and the haunting elegance work together as Ben ups the energy midway through; creating just the right amount of contrast to all that came before it.

The final note of the EP is ‘Pick up Sticks’. Embracing a more experimental approach, Ben sends us on a journey full of diverse moods and emotions through various soundscapes. From sunrises on the moon, through the tulip fields of Holland, down to the smallest creatures of the forest, Ben Hoo takes us there with ease.
