Culprit ends 2015 with an exclamation point – the label debut by the respected UK production outfit Audiojack.

 

Long on each other’s radar, the LA-based label and Audiojack collaborate on a release, the title track of which had become the Culprit tune of the summer. Supported by two exceptional remixes from the French underground house veteran Franck Roger and the exciting Italian producer Whitesquare, ‘Nefelibata’ is primed to make a splash during the busy winter holiday season.

Originally from Leeds, now based in Ibiza, Audiojack are set to celebrate a decade of music-making. These ten years have been filled with memorable tunes and notable remixes, like their massive rework of Paul Woolford’s ‘Erotic Discourse’,  their own ‘Robot’ on Leftroom, a series of EPs and an album for another Leeds institution, 20:20 Vision imprint, and the steadily rising label of their own – Gruuv.

 

An immensely catchy tune was sent to the label’s headquarters in early June and immediately became part of their daily soundtrack. On ‘Nefelibata’, Audiojack combine one of their patented crisp grooves with the kind of a deceptively simple melodic hook that you just can’t shake after hearing it even once. Label bosses Droog have been playing it in every set to a never-ending stream of “What is this?’

With the certifiable dancefloor killer on their hands, Culprit approached two of their favorites to remix it. Together with the likes of Apollonia and Phil Weeks, Franck Roger has been one of the leaders of the French underground house explosion that’s swept through in the past decade. Whitesquare is a big new talent from Rome and has just had a breakthrough year with a string of strong releases for 20:20 Vision.
