Next up on the always refreshingly different and original Inside Out Records is a hot new original from Stevie R & Matt Hardinge that comes with a hugely diverse and deliciously on point selection of remixes from Namito, Si Tew, MEK and Kosmas.

Stevie R is the esteemed Inside Out Records label boss who has been heavily charted, has had his music used on HBO’s Girls, has DJ’d around the world and has released on OFF Recordings and many other labels. Matt Hardinge, Motek’s head honcho is a label regular who has served up a trio of top tunes on Inside Out before. Now together they are a force to be reckoned with.

In original form, Measuring The Universe has a brooding, heavily swung trip hop vibe at its core. With melancholic vocals from the brilliant Shawni, dark and spacious synths and tumbling rubbery drums, it’s a total piece of slo-mo music that really sweeps you up.

From there, every remix offers a totally different take on the original. Up first, Iran’s Namito – who is now based in Berlin and released on labels like Systematic and Kling Klong – flips the track into a mischievous and late night slow burner with eerie melodies, a rugged, arped bassline and lots of late night mood in its grooves.

Then comes Si Tew with a more propulsive track. Driven by soft drums and hits, it has shiny, glassy melodies stretched out over lazy beats, instantly drawing you in to its warm core.

Kosmas then goes all deep house with his succulent, spiritual remix and its uniquely poised bass notes, watery droplets and dreamy, echoing vocals.

Lastly comes the mysterious MEK, a new electronic band project featuring some London based talents that have already released on some top tier labels as solo artists. Far from being newcomers, this is an accomplished collective who really impress here ahead of a full first solo release. Their remix is deep and driving, with widescreen pads and lots of angelic affects on the vocal.

Overall, this is another stunning package from Inside Out Records that really does offer something for everyone.
