Things are getting hotter in Berlin with the summer approaching and our favorite Ampisipazi Recordings drop ‘Lunacy EP’ from the incredibly talented German Producer Paul Schmidpeter. Someone to keep your eyes and ears on.

Where does Mik Santoro, the label owner of Ampispazi (also on the remix duty for this release) find all those incredible talents is obvioulsy a secret. But its good like this. We like surprises. Paul Schmidpeter is a young producer and DJ, based in Nuremberg where he plays often. We don’t know much about him but his music is mature and current and Mik knows it.

‘Luncay EP’ showcases 3 original tracks with the ethos of the producer, in which it’s easy to find influences coming from the likes of Peter Dundov and the old and good Kalkbrenner and Smallpeople. His sound blends elements of such amazing artists and creating a unique feeling to it. Melancholic yes, but made to destroy clubs.

The title track, Lunacy, is meant for dreamers. The melodies perfectly mix with with the straight groove until the deep bass kicks in, taking us to a far away land. Following is ‘Bedlam‘ , a long journey driven by a melodic bass-line and by an almost singing synth line: an hypnotic but incredibly powerful dance floor oriented tune. Prudence is one of those track you want to hear early in the morning. It would perfectly suit any after party in Berlin or London, when the sun is coming up but those magical clouds are keeping it hidden. Fresh. Main man Mik Santoro once again takes out his drum machines and forges another unstoppable groove while remixing ‘Prudence‘: it moves from the sonority of the original and drops a pure late night cut. Ready to rock.
