Sure to be one of the most killer releases of the year, Underlord is back doing what he does best with his wild new EP – U Crazy Fu*k on his own Exploding Chicken label.
Underlord produces massive tracks that have blown festivals & clubs apart including Bestival, Global Gathering, Fabric & SW4. Known as Simon Saunders and living in London, his bio reads “kick ass tunes to scare the knickers off your granny” and for good reason… he packs plenty of punch in his work, which so far has picked up huge support from some of dance music’s legends such as Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox & Claude von Stroke and many more.
Besides just finishing an official remix for Phil from Orbital, the reason his new EP is called “U Crazy Fu*k” is simply because Laurent Garnier said “YOU REALLY ARE A CRAZY MOTHER FU*KER. THIS IS MAAAAADDDD. I WILL KILL THEM TOMORROW WITH THIS ESPECIALLY AS I AM PLAYING A VERY BIG ROOM. THIS IS GREAT.” That was for an unreleased track called ‘The Storm’. “I didn’t think the storm was crazy enough, so I really wanted to step up the intensity level”, said Simon. After Garnier listened to “U Crazy Fu*k” he stated “you’re definitely completely crazy!” The pair even ended up having breakfast together after the French techno star played an Underlord cut at his fabric gig.
The title track is a hyper energetic club banger which starts with rising strings that build into a searing lead synth line which then drops into massive drums and a seriously fat analogue sub bass. DJ Mag’s Carl Loben comment is spot on “Big room techno beast”.
‘Superfat’ is turbo charged from the very first drop with a Superfat bassline, hence the name. Another firm dancefloor destroyer with Garnier comments “THIS IS FUCKING HOT AS HELL. THIS is BBBIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.”
Underlord used to own and run a vinyl record shop back in the day and certainly has an ear for what whips a crowd into a frenzy. These two killer cuts are just a taster of one sound that he will be releasing this year.
