Drawing inspiration from his focus on live performance ‘Escape the Remedies’ is MUUI’s first live album; a personal statement, and continuation of the Berlin based artist’s deep exploration into live possibilities with all elements
of the album processed and arranged live.
On show is MUUI’s versatile and uninhabited approach to music in which he presents a cohesive and coherent live mix with singles later derived from stem recordings. The live mix navigates through hypnotic grooves, kinked rhythms,subtle melodic hooks and atmospheric instrumental fragments with artistic precision, musical depth and danceability. MUUI edges not so far into the techno territory that he explores on his on imprint ‘Paranoid Dancer’ and under his alias Patrik Carrera, rather the album see’s him revisiting the softer, groovier, melodic, MUUI territory. Regardless of music style MUUI’s identity shines through right from the off working his hypnosis to ensure there is plenty to get lost in.
“I am just continually exploring new ways of creating and processing my sounds live,” explains MUUI. “After a few very good live shows I was motivated to create a live album. After putting out some live mixes and recordings some people also wanted to hear singles of the tracks in the sets of which they did not exist, so in making a live album I wanted to not only make a live journey for people to hear from start to finish, but I also wanted to record each element separately via the mixing desk into my computer to then also enable me to make singles for other DJs to play.”
The album comes after his recent releases have been supported by the likes of Tiga, Slam, Bart Skils, Guy J, and following a string a successful live shows in Berlin, Bern, and Leipzig, the album is the next piece in the puzzle of this talented young artist.
Escape the Remedies is to be released on Crossfrontier Audio, the Berlin label that’s home to recent releases and remixes from Philip Bader, Schlepp Geist, Patlac, Aidan Lavelle & label head Marc Poppcke.
