National Geordie treasure Richy Ahmed is undoubtedly an original brother and integral cog in the Hot Creations machine and since his emergence alongside the crew and subsequent blowing up of the scene, Richy has become one of the most sought after and hardworking DJs on the circuit. Now honing his production skills to a fine point, it’s no surprise he’s been showcasing on the label, with last years ‘The Drums’ smashing through on all fronts. Richy is now bestowed with the honour of helming the pinnacle 50th release for the ever ubiquitous label. Lead track ‘Sneaky Acid’ is a bonafide bomb for the dancefloor in full rave mode, carrying all the classic markings of a funked up acid trip. On the flip, ‘The Bells’ part 1 & 2 already championed by Skream on BBC Radio 1 is a bass driven banger centred around the hypnotic percussive groove.
o Launched in 2010 and coowned by Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, Hot Creations is the groundbreaking independent dance imprint that’s gained global notoriety in recent years through pioneering a new and unique sound born of it’s founders deep affinity with old disco records and soulful funk. 2013 saw the duo take their label to even greater planes upon the major label release of their band Hot Natured’s truly unique debut album and the label continues to nurture and champion a host of incredible homegrown and overseas talent such as Digitaria, Greg Pidcock, Miguel Campbell, Robert James, wAFF and of course Richy Ahmed. In summer 2012, the crew launched the weekly Paradise events in Ibiza DC10, now in its third year and one of the current highlights on the island
o+o Richy has always played an integral part in the label, ranging from A&R to residencies at the global Hot Natured and Paradise events. Having since made an impact at some of the world’s best clubs and festivals including, Sonar, Tomorrowland, Glastonbury, Bestival, Panorama bar and London institution fabric, Richy has continually proved himself as an unequivocal party starter.
o+o+ Armed with an individual sound that fuses the energy of house and disco with infectious funkinspired grooves and a touch of dark, Richy’s distinct style has always been championed by heavyweights in the game such as Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus, Clive Henry and Seth Troxler. 2013’s ‘The Drums’ was Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune and gained widespread support among all the Radio 1 tastemakers including Annie Mac, Danny Howard, and Rob Da Bank. As well as a host of massive remixes for the likes of Katy B on Columbia, Phil Kieran on Hot Flush, Michael Janson on Resonance Records, Richy also had a major coup curating the Rinse: 23 compilation to wide critical acclaim, cementing Richy’s status in the nu school elite.
