Him_Self_Her is he production duo from Leicester are currently taking the scene by storm and here they serve up a new EP, Heaven, on the Resonance records label featuring two originals and two remixes, one from Mark Jenkyns, one from Kieran Andrews.

Him_self_her are a house act with a big current buzz and following, with support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Hot Since 82, Solomun and Damian Lazarus who’s signed the pair to Crosstown Rebels. Perhaps best known for their release ‘Gone Too Long’ on Cream Couture Records in 2012, the track spent 11 weeks at No 1 in the Beatport New Disco chart and this new EP is likely to be just as big.

Up first, ‘Heaven’ is a grinding house track with well defined percussion and a great neo-soul vocal that injects a real sense of attitude into proceedings. It builds slowly and after a synth heavy, spine tingling breakdown it drops proper into the scraping, seriously big bassline.

‘Home’ is a similarly stripped back and down low affair this time with filtered vocals melting into the wobbly bassline. Rolling along at a sensuously slow tempo this track will sweep up the floor and keep It rolling at any time of the night.

Heaven then gets two remixes, the first is a more bulking, New York style house jam with bold drums and bass from label regular and Hot Creations associate Mark Jenkyns, and the second from Kieran Andrews is an upright, neon lit bit of house with elastic, rubbery basslines riding up and down, a loose acid line roaming about and clipped vocal coos injecting things with some sexy energy.

Once again here Him_Self_Her come up with the goods and prove they are amongst some of the biggest hitters currently setting trends on the house scene.
