Apolloniarec_altroversoA collaboration between three of Paris underground’s hottest exports , 2012 saw the launch of Apollonia, the new imprint and DJ outfit from Shonky, Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom.

Sharing the same musical roots, tastes and creative vision, Apollonia was a natural, if not inevitable progression for the trio. Serving as a platform for their productions, the label represents new beginnings based on a solid family that have already done much to shape the underground house scene, in Paris and beyond.

The debut release, Shonky’s ‘The Minneapolis Touch’ with his signature seductive melodies and hushed vocals caused a stir amongst their contemporaries, as did ‘Trax On Da Road’ the solid solo EP by Dan, or more recently the killer ‘Ometeo’ remix from Dyed. Opening up the label to esteemed underground producers like Daze Maxim and The Mole, ‘Lotus Seven’ was the first LP on Apollonia from house heavyweights Chris Carrier and Hector Moralez. Also keen to share the hard-to-find classics that shaped Apollonia’s sound, a series of vinyl represses has included Point G’s magnificent ‘Underwater’, Callisto’s ‘Need Ur Love’, and uplifting house from Kerri Chandler.

But the anticipation for 2014 undoubtedly centres around the debut Apollonia LP. A product of some long winter sessions in their Berlin studio cocoon, the forthcoming release is sure to be the highlight of the year and Apollonia’s career to date.
