Catwash Records regular Chris Carrier brings the bounce via the old school on his new ‘1000 Reasons EP’. Label owner and rising underground star DJ W!LD steps up for remix duty and the result is a speaker-busting package set to slay dancefloors worldwide.
A-Side ‘1000 Reasons’ harks back to the golden era of U.S house. The acid bassline bounce and thrusty kicks, propelled by Carrier’s undying love for the analogue sound. Executed with his trusty Roland 303, it’s a track that warps and rushes with carnal energy. A healthy dose of Chicago vocals and Carrier’s heavily tweaked bleeps and squeaks make for an authentic ride into the past.
‘Liquid Harmony’ is bathed in vocals of dreamy narcotic lethargy alongside bone- shaking bass beats and a rumbling low-end. Soaring synths swell and heighten the atmosphere of this deep and groovy cut. DJ W!LD injects some techno swagger in the driving rework and introduces a tribal element of rolling percussion amidst the manipulated vocal twists. In ‘Liquid Harmony (303 version)’ the vocal is replaced with a reprise of bubbling acid.
Chris Carrier, one of the heroes of the French house scene, has been beguiling dancefloors for over a decade with his cosmic house grooves and genre-bending infusions of disco, jazz, funk and soul delivered on labels such as Robsoul, Catwash and own imprints Adult Only and Sound Carrier. Established by W!LD in 2005, Catwash Records has since welcomed on board a host of global talent including Le Chien Perdu, Mirco Violi and Little Fritter and continues to champion the fresh sounds of the underground.
As well as working under the live moniker Catwash with Carrier, DJ W!LD has recently joined the Cocoon agency and the infamous DC10’s canon of residents heralding a future amid techno royalty. W!LD is also set to release of his debut artist album ‘Palace’ on newly launched label W in June.
