Solar Distance is a label project from UNER whose deep and melodic sound fuses elements of both House and Techno.
Signing music from fresh talent such as Fideles plus Lower & OSp, the label has also featured music from UNER himself, along with Petar Dundov, SIS, Philip Bader, Copy Paste Soul and Lee Van Dowski.
This new release is from Squire who is a Spanish artist that has been quickly rising through the ranks with revered releases on labels including Parquet Recordings, Tenampa, Rebellion, My Favorite Robot, Sincopat, Bar 25 Music and Global Underground for example.
Introduced to Jazz and Soul at a young age Squire first discovered rhythm and melody via these genres. Already a keen musician, he unearthed electronic music when he started going to club events with friends, and was instantly mesmerised by the futuristic sounds.
His love of Jazz and Soul blended with the deep atmospherics of electronic music that has led to his unique and melody rich sound, which for a young producer shows maturity above his age.
“Melpomene” is deep and poignant with dramatic vocals immersed in eloquent synths. Cinematic and spacious, the tracks laid back vibe is still dancefloor friendly. Captivating and imaginative the medley of sound and texture paints vivid images of desert sunsets and moonlight terrace parties.
“Garbi” starts with bass stabs and bursts of percussion that combine in rhythmical patterns to both hypnotise and bewilder. Subtle variations generated by modulating effects add movement to the building tension of the pads. Epic in every sense of the word the track unfolds with mystery to enthral the listen.
“Downcount” has an intricate melody at its centre which ripples and twists with modulation as the track develops. It’s slow and purposeful structure moves with delicate steps and immense force, so although eloquent and delightful it also crushes all who fall beneath its weight.
