Arriving from Italy via labels such as Little Helpers, No Excuse and Huxley’s No Idea’s Original, MFS Observatory land at New Violence Records with their Close EP.

Starting with the title track, Close, the boys deliver a chunky, tribal infused roller. A real throbber of a bassline offset with some lovely percussion & looping vocals does the trick on this one.

On remix duties for Close is George Vala. A regular at Get Physical & Stereo, George drops a stripped back, organic groove (whatever that means) building to a beautiful break where there vocal is chopped up into trippy cuts, dipping in and out and the synths swirl to the drop. Lovely stuff.

Next we have Falling, which opens with a blatant case of phone hacking before the kick drops in and we are away. A much more heads down affair than the title track, we soon find ourselves wrapped around a squelching acidic riff which will probably make your head fall off in the right circumstances. This will do damage.

Stepping up to the remix plate is none other than Elrow resident Toni Varga. From the off we’re on a different journey, skippy snares, finely chopped vocal snippets and disco blips drive it to the break where we are dealt a massive synth line that is going to cause a few incidents on the dance floor.
