Release #121 sees a coming together of Lucidflow’s deep-tech and chill-time strands of sound into one release. Digital South is the pseudonym of Christian Althaus, who found a home with a scattering of releases on the then fledging Boxer Recordings. With a hiatus of nearly a decade and a half, Digital South returns with a mega-package called Last Lullaby.

On the downtempo side of the coin, the original version of Last Lullaby channels Café Del Mar vibes with a vocal of absolute purity, written and performed by vocalist Sandra Zaboub, and Balearic kissed grooves. Lucidflow co-chief Nadja Lind steps in with two mixes – one relaxation of the muscles that raises the tempo of the original into a more breathless jazz flexed version, and one stretch of the muscles that rolls out the kicks to move the track from the beach and onto the dancefloor.

Next, a full raft of remixes have been pulled in across a variety of styles. Veteran David Alvarado brings his trademark rolling hypnotic tribal-tech into force, now becoming a familiar face at the label after supplying several high profile remixes over the past few years.
Rising face Andrey Loud has been sharing billings with Groove Armada, Tigerstripes, X-press 2, DJ Sneak and Nick Warren recently, and channels the sort of warming micro-prog sound that straddles the divides between disciplines easily.

Finally, with a bit of a twist, Paul Loraine returns to Lucidflow having graced the label’s first ever vinyl offering – alongside Nadja Lind on their Making A Difference track. Continuing a recent great of form helming his Rhythm Cult label, he joins forces with a fellow Barcelona based producer in the form of Steve Ferrand and multi-instrumentalist Stu Young turn in a low chug of an interpretation, the murky backing proving a fitting canvas for Sandra’s vocals to drift between.

Releasing on 28th November 2016, Last Lullaby also comes with full STEMS files of Nadja’s remixes, for those who wish to take the track off of the beach and into the dark recesses of their own studio to play with at their whim.
